Training Week 2

Been a long time huh? Anyways training has been going really well. I've been having some problems with uploading pictures to my PC. Sucks that i can't share it with you but as soon as i figure everything out I will.

So because of some problems, today will be considered Day 6. I'm posting this week training schedule.

The week it is going to be more speed training but a lot more intense ab workouts as you can see. The week is going to be an exciting week because we are building up to the final test. I will then get to see if Yassi and mine's hardwork payed off and she is faster. Wish us luck. Will try to fix the photo issue so you can see our progress. Until next time!

Traning: Day 1

November, 6th 2012 marks the beginning of training for Yassi. We had some bad communication which ended up with her doing it at her house with me over the phone. Great first day huh? Anyways I'm optimistic about it and I'm positive we can succeeded.

This is the first 5 days of training

Mainly this week is about getting Yassi in shape. I want to improve her endurance, strength and flexibility in order to get her ready for speed. Morning workouts consist of 50 jumping jacks, 5 push-ups, 20 crunches, 20 mountain climbers and 30 second plank. Durning the beginning test i noticed Yassi was tired before the finish line. I want to have enough stamina to run past the line at her fastest. This is why i am going to do my best to make sure this happens.

Will post pictures/videos of her progress soon!

Until next time my lovies!

And it begins!

The day has finally come. Today was the day i official started my project. So I took Yassi to a near by track. I warmed her up, made her stretch her muscles and finally she raced! To remind you she had to do a 100 meters at her fastest. This is what happened!

and the official beginning for my project, the moment of truth, the starting timing of Yassi is.............. 17.7 seconds

I'm so proud of her but we have our work cut out for us. Tomorrow is the first day of training. I'm excited but her not so much! Wish both of us luck!

Just a little taste

This is a little peak for you at my project. I knew that I would not have the time to make an intro for the video after I got all the footage so I decided to make it now. ENJOY!

Song: Stronger by Kanye West

Videos: Universal Theme

The finer details

First of all I want to start off with thanks all my reader. I take time and effort to make this posts and it's amazing to know that people are taking the time to read. So THANK YOU! Now back to (drum rolllllllllllll) The Running Chronicles.  You guys now know what my project is about so lets me tell you how I am going to achieve that goal.

Step 1: Do a race to determine the speed of the participant
Basically I am going to take my friend Yassi to a running track and ask her to run 100 meters in her full speed. Using a hand clock and video footage, I will determine her time and in the following 10 days try to improve upon it.

Step 2: Train the participant
Using a variety of cardio, resistance and flexibility exercises I will train her every day. First I will start off with bring up her stamina which basically means I need to make sure she can keep up with all the exercises. In the beginning I will be doing muscle work without weighted but gradually will add to it to improve her strength. During the last 5 days I will kick up the intensity and do speed training. Throughout all the 10 days I will be making her do abs work, improving her flexibility and teacher her good running form.

Step 3: Set up a meal plan
"You are what you eat" is true so if I want Yassi to be at her fastest by the end of my project, I must tend to her food needs as well. I will be providing all her breakfast/snacks which will help her perform her best at trainings and give her body the necessary nutrients. Also provide with healthy meal options for lunch and dinner.

Step 4: Test Time
Do the beginning test again and see if any improvement was made. This time Yassi will be wear track shoes (shoes with 7 spikes on the ball of the shoe). Celebrate if she is faster!

Step 5: Make Video
Put all the footage together with music. Try to keep it short enough to keep people interested and make sure it answers my question.

Step 6: Peer Review
Show the video to friends and family to get their reactions. Make changes if necessary and survey to get feedback.

Step 7: Present
Show the video to my class and post it on the internet. Get hopefully positive reactions and feedback and a good grade on my project!

Hopefully this gives you a better understanding on my project. Comment if you have any ideas to help me or anything else. Criticism gladly excepted!

PS: tomorrow is when the project officially beings which means the boring introduction is over. Video of it will most likely be posted. Stay tuned!

How it all happened

Now that you guys know about my project, I want to tell you all about its awesomeness. First of all, how did I come up with it? Well you now how all about the "Genius Project" so that was the official starting point. I have a huge fascination with space therefore I wanted to do something along the lines of that. As you can imagine it was hard. Trying to narrow down the topic and then trying to make a project about space your "own". CRAZY I know. So eventually I gave up on that idea. Then a couple of my classmates were doing their projects on BMX which was their favorite sport. This gave me the idea to lean towards my passion of running. Consider this borrowing not copying! But then I faced the same problem that I had with space, how can I narrow down the topic of Running. The inspiration for it came when I was browsing the internet. Know those really annoying pop-up ads that are like "woman lost 100 pounds, learn how". Annoying but helpful in my case because the ad that I saw was "improve your speed in 10 easy steps". Of course this got me questioning it because I train year round to improve my speed and they said it can be done "easily"! Being me, I had to check it out. Let me just start off by telling you it was no help, it redirected me to some German diet. Even though it was pointless it had set up the basics for my project. Is it possible to make someone faster using food, intense training and the right equipment? Can it be done? After thinking about it BAM it happened. My project was born. "Do you need to be born with speed or can I take a person and make them faster in 10 days".

I know this project has a lot of problems like time, expenses and having to actually use my brain (going to be hard for me) but I feel like its worth it. A story worth telling if you may. All the planning is nearly finished and soon I will starting filming. Soon I will be posting the finer details (like in a few hours) and the beginning test will be happening today or tomorrow.  STAY TUNED!

Tell me your thoughts because I would love some feedback because this blog is basically for that reason. Wish me luck!

For your information

To all my avid readers and the people who have stumbled upon my blog,  I have important news. I will be officially starting my project on Monday and that's when all the exciting stuff like videos will be posted. Please bear with me until then. I know "The Running Chronicles" might be boring right now because I have to set up the mood for my "Genius Project". You need to know information like what, when, why, who and how so that's what this whole weekend will be about.

Thanks for the corporation. Leave comments or whatever if you think you can help me in anyway! Until next time my lovies.

Genius Project???

I re-read my last/first post and even I have to admit that I didn't do a good job explaining my project. First of all in my class we can it the "Genius Project". Sounds like something from Apple huh? So anyway you get to pick you own topic and make a project about it. Awesome but a lot of work.  Some of the unique aspects are that you get to present it in anyway you want and make you own due date. Now you're probably wondering who is my teacher and when can you transfer into her class? This project is such a change from the usual. We get to take our passions and represent it it whatever way we seem best. Even thought this project sounds like heaven to a high school student, it has it cons. It hard to know where to start when you don't have a criteria list. "Should I do this?" is a question that comes up a lot because when you have free reign on something, you imagination tends to run wild. Well mine did. Another con is coming up with an idea. There are so many amazing topics you could pick but when it comes time to, your mind runs a blank. But when you get that perfect idea (which mine is) magic WILL happen.

Some of the other ideas for the Genius Project in my class are awesome. Like "the afterlife" and the "Bermuda triangle". How cool are those. This project calls for expanding your knowledge. It's not just to report the facts on a concrete subject but to put your own opinions and theories into the idea. Make it your own. Even though that sounds super corny it is ultimately the main focus of this project.

I'm so excited that my teacher introduced this project to me because let's face it, English can be boring. With all Shakespeare stories I can barely understand to the sappy poems about nature you need a little excitement. Anyways back to my super awesome project, I have almost finished all the planning for it. I will post the finer details to it next and start the whole project this Monday. Stressed but excited.

Wish me luck!

LET'S DO THIS!

Who would have ever thought that I would be able to blog for an english project? I guess the social media bug has gotten everywhere, including my teachers. Not complaining :) Basically the project is make your own project. HOW COOL IS THAT! We had to pick something we are passionate about and expand on it. Make it interesting, unique and presentable. Of course i had to pick my number 1 love.......... RUNNING! I know many people out there are calling my crazy for loving exercise but you obviously haven't run. Just kidding, but the feeling of power and leaving your problems behind is AMAZING! Anyways before I start to rant about my love for running, I should tell you more about the project.

I want to know is speed a skill necessary to be born with or can it be man made. How do you ask i will make this boring question interesting to a bunch of 15 years old? AN EPIC MOVIE!!!! To elaborate more on that I will be taking my "unskilled friend" and basically training her. Using the right food, training and equipment and at the end of 10 days of recording I will determine my answer by comparing her beginning and ending timings in a 100 meter race. TAA DAA!

So this blog is a fun way for me track my progress. Who seriously uses pens and pencils these days? Anyways my teacher also might be checking this out so there might be some boring educational stuff posted for the benefit of my mark, so bear with me! I will be posting clips of my friends progress and let me tell you she is crazy and clumsy with makes thing a hundred times funnier with her. I would love to have feedback for my project and my future posts. Way I can make it better are the best so try for those. Im excited for this project so I'm just going to jump right in. Wish me luck!
